Text Me When You Get Home

Text Me When You Get Home

Text Me When You Get Home
I call my mom just about every day to check in, chat a bit, and tell her I love her. Anytime I know she’s out and about I tell her “please just text me when you get home”. Sometimes she forgets and I worry and worry until finally she messages me with “Hey! Sorry! I got distracted. Made it home just fine, love you!”.
My dad passed away a couple of years ago. (Hard to believe it’s been “a couple of years ago”). The year he passed, I had about 2 big, beautiful moments in my life. The emotions were hard to rummage through. I missed my dad so much it hurt, and these 2 other life events were so big, beautiful, and personal to me….I couldn’t help but feel like it was with dad’s help. It was as if it was his way of “texting” me, letting me know he got home.
If you’ve lost someone recently, the pain can be overwhelming. In your quiet time, in your closet or car, over breakfast or in a crowd, you can tell them “hey, please text me when you get home”. They may get distracted for a bit but, I have an overwhelming feeling there will be some beautiful moments coming. When they do, you can know it was your loved ones. And they are saying “Hey! Sorry! I got distracted. Made it home just fine, love you!”
