God Feelings.
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
We’ve all said it. And we usually choose to listen to those gut feelings. And if we don’t, we worry that there will be some sort of backlash where we should’ve listened.
Here’s the thing though…if you have an unhealthy gut, you’re going to have unhealthy gut feelings.
If you haven’t been eating the best or taking some time to get some sort of exercise, your gut may not be the most reliable thing to listen to. Your body will still be having those “gut feelings”, but they will not be the same as “God feelings”.
How do you know the difference?…
We went and test drove some trucks the other day. At one point, I put the blinker on to switch lanes, glanced over my shoulder to make sure nothing was in my way, and about that time, the truck started making this small beeping noise. I looked again and noticed that there was a car that was in my blindspot and the truck was warning me there was something there.
That’s a way to recognize “God feelings”. It’s that small beep that something is in your blindspot. Almost feels like something that keeps tapping you on the shoulder or a gnat you can’t quite catch. It’s usually not scary or panic driven. There’s a peace to it (even if you don’t like it). That’s God feelings.
If you’ve been led down a path and are trying to trust yourself again, start with your body health and your prayer health. Start working on your physical fitness, food intake, habits, etc. the only way to be able to trust your gut feelings are to have a healthy gut. God is in all of us so there’s a way to have a trustworthy gut.
Next, pray. Ask God to heal your “gut feelings” and talk louder in the “God feelings”. Ask for wisdom and strategy for the next steps. He truly answers prayer.
As the scripture reads above, Our ways are not His ways. Trusting that still small voice comes with time and practice. You’ll make some mistakes, but keep practicing and trying.
As my dad always said, “…just follow the peace”.
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God did not give us a spirit of fear. But of power, love, and a sound mind”.
